Reports have emerged that the National Commercial Bank (NCB) has withdrawn a letter setting out a vaccine mandate for its staff. This as further discussions are to be had concerning the instructions issued to the financial institution’s team members.

Earlier today (November 3), NCB by memo required that staff members should as of immediately have at least one COVID-19 jab or take COVID tests at their own expense each week.

NCB’s management relayed to staff this afternoon that the withdrawal of the testing policy comes after receiving a letter from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security inviting NCB and staff to a conciliatory meeting.

The Staff Association yesterday said the bank advised it would proceed with the actions consequent on its notice re the mandate.

Staff Association Chairman Paul Stewart said he had informed the bank that the Association could not guarantee normality at NCB once the mandate took effect.
