National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) reopened its Negril and Baywest branches on Wednesday, November 5, marking another step in restoring access to banking services across western Jamaica following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa a week ago.
Both locations serve key residential and commercial communities in western Jamaica, which were among the areas hardest hit by the storm. Recovery efforts continue to be affected by power and connectivity challenges across parts of the island, but NCB teams are working to safely restore access to banking services as conditions improve.
With the reopening of Negril and Baywest, a total of twenty-three NCB branches are now operational islandwide.
The full list includes Baywest, Christiana, Constant Spring, Duke Street, Fairview, Half-Way Tree, Junction, Linstead, Mandeville, Matilda’s Corner, May Pen, Morant Bay, Negril, New Kingston, Ocho Rios, Old Harbour, Port Antonio, Portmore, Constant Spring, Santa Cruz, St Ann’s Bay, St Jago Shopping Centre, and University. Corporate Area and St Catherine branches operate from 8:30 am. to 2 p.m., while rural branches open from 9 am to 2 pm.
While more than 200 ABMs remain in operation islandwide, some machines have been affected by power outages and limited connectivity in several parishes. However, ABM service has been restored at NCB’s Fairview and Baywest branches in St James, at the Negril branch in Westmoreland, and at the Lucea branch in Hanover. NCB is actively working with its suppliers and service partners to restore the full network as quickly and safely as possible.
“Every branch reopening represents hope for the communities we serve,” said Bruce Bowen, CEO of NCB. “We know many Jamaicans are still facing very difficult circumstances, and our teams are doing everything they can to restore access—whether that’s through branches, ABMs, or otherwise. We’re deeply grateful for our customers’ patience and for the commitment of our staff, who continue to show incredible resilience through this recovery.”
NCB continues to assess conditions across its network and will reopen additional locations on a phased basis once it is safe to do so. Customers can continue accessing their accounts through NCB online banking, the NCB mobile app, and ABMs, where service is available.
