Opposition Spokesperson on Local Government and Sports, Natalie Neita Garvey, has expressed the People’s National Party’s (PNP) regret on the passing of former Mayor of Kingston, Colleen Yap.

In a statement today (April 17), Neita said, “Mrs Yap served the KSAC for three years and achieved the distinction of becoming Mayor of the capital city after then-Mayor Ryan Peralto resigned to become a member of the central government.”

Neita noted that though her term was cut short because of the dissolution of the corporation by the then government, she nevertheless made a mark in the firmness of her chairmanship and advocacy for better housing conditions for the citizens of Kingston and St Andrew, particularly Olympic Gardens.
