The Victoria Jubilee Hospital (VJH) has received some new equipment that will no doubt boost services at the establishment.
Three neonatal transport ventilators were repaired by the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange (JSSE) in partnership with Mona-Tech Engineering Services.
These equipment are breathing machines designed for emergency cases. The transport ventilators will allow the clinical team from VJH to transport babies to the Bustamante Hospital for Children in need of special health care.
The VJH has the largest maternity ward in the English-speaking Caribbean, delivering 7,000 babies yearly. At least 300 infants are admitted in the neonatal care unit each year. On average, 15 newborn babies are seen in critical condition, most of which require the ventilator.
JSSE Manager Nora Blake shared that they have initiated a funding project to repair medical equipment for major hospitals.
She added that the JSSE has a valued proposition to greatly enhance the services of the public health facilities to first-class standards and urged other private companies to make a contribution to the health sector as well.
