Netflix will introduce a live adaptation of the popular YouTube dating series Pop the Balloon on Thursday, April 10.
The weekly event, titled Pop the Balloon LIVE, will air on Thursdays at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT and feature new twists, higher stakes, and celebrity appearances.
Created by Arlette Amuli and Bolia Matundu, the show gained widespread attention for its unconventional speed-dating format, where contestants pop a balloon to eliminate potential matches. Since its debut, it has amassed over 50 million views and attracted a growing waitlist of participants.

Yvonne Orji, known for her role in Issa Rae’s hit series Insecure, will host the live series. “After playing the ‘unlucky in love’ Molly Carter for five seasons, I know a thing or two about looking for love in a hopeless place,” Orji said. “Hopefully, the singles on Pop the Balloon LIVE will have much more success.”
Executive producer Matt Sharp described the Netflix version as an evolution of the original concept, aiming to push “the boundaries of connection, chemistry, and unpredictability”.
Amuli and Matundu will serve as executive producers for the live series.
