Scotiabank has announced that starting October 1, 2024, prospective clients in the Caribbean wishing to open an account can now do so entirely online.

The platform’s capability to now accept new account requests is an expansion of the digital onboarding process previously made available to existing Scotiabank clients last year. An element of Scotiabank’s global strategy is to make doing business with the bank easier and the ability to open an account online will improve the overall client experience.

The new process features enhanced data management and responsive designs which are intuitive for clients. New clients can also be assured that the information they provide is protected and that the process for opening their accounts online will be easy and seamless. Additionally, the use of technology will allow complete document review and personal ID verification remotely, while providing enhanced security, privacy and efficiency.

Allowing new clients to open an account online is an important step in advancing Scotiabank’s global strategy to accelerate financial inclusion and simplify banking for all. Clients will have a choice between the Everyday Banking or Payroll deposit accounts to meet their unique banking needs.

For several years, Scotiabank has supported the transition of clients to its online banking platform which allows easy access to account information, transfers between accounts, bill payments, ACH/RTGS services and more. Currently, residents in The Bahamas, Jamaica, Cayman, Barbados, Turks and Caicos and Trinidad and Tobago will have access to the new Scotiabank onboarding process.
