Months of speculation regarding the next instalment in the Mortal Kombat series have finally come to an end as NetherRealm Studios’ released a teaser trailer on their YouTube page on Thursday (May 18).

The trailer confimed previously leaked information and rumours that the highly-anticipated Mortal Kombat 12 will be a reboot called Mortal Kombat 1.

According to the leak, Mortal Kombat 1 will be available later this year on various platforms, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Notably, the game will skip over last-generation consoles, indicating a focus on harnessing the power of next-generation hardware for enhanced gameplay experiences.

Special leaked characters have already been revealed for the upcoming game including DC universe’s Peacemaker, Invincible’s Omni-Man and The Boys’ Homelander.

All these characters are known for their brutality and fit the theme of the franchise.
