A new four-member Public Service Commission (PSC) is now in place to deal with the hiring, firing and disciplining of senior civil servants.

The PSC is once again chaired by retired senior civil servant Patricia Sinclair McCalla, who has been returned at the helm. The three other members are: Bishop Herro Blair, Professor Denise Eldemire-Shearer and new addition, employment law specialist Khadrea Folkes.

Like Sinclair McCalla, Blair and Eldemire-Shearer have also been returned from the previously appointed PSC. The new commissioners will hold office for three years.

The Office of the Services Commissions confirmed the appointment of the new commission after the tenure of the previous one expired on March 31. The new appointments have been made effective as of April 1.

The previous commission comprised of five members. Two of them – lawyer Rose Bennett Cooper and businesswoman Brenda Cuthbert – were not named to the new PSC.
