NHT ready for applications for Catherine Estate

The National Housing Trust (NHT) is inviting applications for the Catherine Estate development in St Catherine.

Applications for houses at the development located in Dunbelholden, which sits on the border of Portmore and Spanish Town, should be submitted June 4-5, 2024.

“Catherine Estate offers easy access to civic amenities in both urban centres. The development features charming duplex studio and detached one-bedroom units with open concept living, dining and kitchen areas,” NHT said of the new residential project.

Other features include entry porch and rear patio, UPVC windows, ceramic wall and floor tiles, aluminium galvanised steel roof, solid surface countertops, and space for expansion.

Residents will have access to nearby schools, police stations, shopping facilities, health facilities and beaches.

Catherine Estates comprises 43 duplex studio units and 5 one-bedroom units. One duplex studio can cost applicants between $8 million and $8.6 million, while a one-bedroom unit is approximately $8.6 million.

Applicants should be contributors to the NHT for at least 52 weeks, half of which should have been made in the last 26 weeks. They should also be between the ages 18 and 70 years old and has ever accessed a loan from the trust. The person nor his or her spuse should be a homewowner.

The NHT says it is offering up to 100 per cent financing to applicants.

“If necessary, applicants may access contributions not yet due for refund, to help to purchase the property,” a brochure outlined.

“Contributors who are not able to afford the full purchase price of the NHT scheme solution may be able to access an intergenerational mortgage,” it added.

Only two persons may co-apply for a loan.
