Nicholas Benjamin, the son of Kenneth Benjamin (affectionately known as “ Kenny”) has been appointed as Deputy Executive Chairman of the Guardsman Group.
The Guardsman Group was founded by Kenny Benjamin in 1977 when he was just 24 years old.
Over the years, he built it into a leader in the field of security solutions and it now has operations in ten Caribbean countries. The Group has also added tourism and pesticide operations to its portfolio.
The Guardsman Group is one of the inspirational entrepreneurial successes of the Jamaican and Caribbean business scene.
Nicholas Benjamin has worked within the Group over the last sixteen years, proving himself with a number of assignments. He has first-hand experience of the Guardsman culture and would have assiduously understudied his father.
In a company statement, Kenny Benjamin wrote of his son, now officially his right-hand man, “His dedication and commitment to our mission and vision have been evident, and I am confident that he will bring a fresh perspective to our leadership.
“ In this new role, Mr Benjamin will work closely with me and the rest of the executive team to oversee strategic initiatives, drive operational efficiency and foster innovation across our organisation. His intimate knowledge of our operations and strong relationships within the team and outside will be instrumental as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.
“I believe that Mr Benjamin’s leadership will not only strengthen our position in the market but also cultivate a culture of collaboration and excellence within our organisation.”
Nicholas Benjamin is very personable and that quality is invaluable in business. He has an easy-going manner and people speak well of him. He has that combination of IQ and EQ and in that regard is a chip off the old block.
He now takes his place among a new generation of business leaders who will reshape Jamaica’s corporate landscape in the decades to come.
Speaking with Our Today, security mogul Kenny Benjamin said: “Nicholas knows the business and has proven himself over the last sixteen years. He is a people person and you have to be in business. I am now in my 70’s and it is time to slow down and hand the baton over. I will still be around and continue to make contributions when I can.
“The Guardsman Group is in expansion mode and will need younger people to lead the charge. We are in the digital age with AI technology set to change the way business is done and the way people live. Nicholas is up on all this new technology and how it will be utilised in our businesses. I will now have more time to hang out while Nicholas takes Guardsman to even greater heights!
The Guardsman Group consists of 13 companies and employs over 8,000 people.
