Following Nick Cannon’s emotional revelation of the passing of his youngest son, Zen, the Love Don’t Cost A Thing star on today’s (December 8) episode of his show, thanked everyone for their support, kind words and love.
Nick, who kept the diagnosis of his son private out of respect for his son’s mother, Alyssa Scott, and their family, shared this afternoon that he is not okay, but the onslaught of support coming his way has helped to make him feel a bit better. The former Nickelodeon star had mixed feelings about revealing the devastating news, for fear of exploiting it.
“I’m grieving. I feel guilty on many levels. I never wanted to exploit this. I kept it private for so long since I found out about Zen’s diagnosis and, you know, in respect (of) his mother, Alyssa, and everyone in our family… .”
While speaking on The Nick Cannon Show, he revealed that he never expected the outpouring of love and support he received.
“It’s just been an outpouring of love that is really unexpected. I didn’t expect it from all over the world. I really can’t thank you guys enough,” Cannon said.
He shared that Zen’s mother has been taking it “five minutes at a time”.
Zen, who was only five months old, passed away as a result of a tumor found in his brain that began to rapidly grow some time around the Thanksgiving holidays. Nick shared on Tuesday that, on the weekend, he made a trip to California and got the chance to hold his son for the last time by the ocean and, shortly after, Zen died.
Zen was Cannon’s seventh child and the fourth born to the Wild N’ Out creator in the last year and a half.
