Jamaican football player, Khadija ‘Bunn’ Shaw has achieved yet another milestone in her career after revealing on today (March 2) that her sponsorship deal with sportswear giant, Nike, has been extended.
While the footballer did not reveal the duration of the contract, she expressed her joy following the extension through a social media post.
Said Shaw: “The journey continues. Few more years with @nike. Happy to be a part of the family.”
Shaw made history in 2019, as the first player from Jamaica, and by extension the Caribbean, to sign a sponsorship deal with Nike.
AV sports, a sports agency that represents professional athletes, also joined Shaw in the celebration, after posting a picture of the Reggae Girlz striker on its social media page with a caption that stated “The story continues”.
The agency represents more than 60 international players from 25 different countries, including Norwegian footballer, Ada Hegerberg; Canadian footballer, Kadeisha Buchanan; and Australian footballer, Sam Kerr.
The Jamaica football superstar has led a prolific career since she made her debut internationally at the Under-15, Under-17 and Under-20 levels for Jamaica.
She made her senior international debut in 2015 when she scored twice in a 6-0 victory against the Dominican Republic in an Olympic qualifying game. She was also a member of the team that qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019.
Shaw currently plays for English club Manchester City.
