Nike postpones release of Travis Scott’s shoe collab following Astroworld tragedy

Nike in statement released on Monday, said that it is postponing the release of its newest Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack sneaker collaboration with rapper Travis Scott, following the tragedy that struck at the star’s Astroworld festival.

In the statement Nike said that “Out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack.”

Reports are that the sneakers were to be launched on December 16.

The design was announced some time last year and was to be released on Nike’s SNKR’s app. The Nike x Travis Scott Max 270 “Cactus Trails” are vintage shoes that have variety of colours with reversed swooshes (Nike’s logo).

Since the Astrowolrd incident, 10 people have died including a nine-year-old boy. Over 100 lawsuits have been filed against the rapper and the organisers.

Scott has teamed up with BetterHelp to assist those who have lost their loved ones.

The Antidote rapper also offered to cover the funeral expenses of all the victims and refunded all the Astroworld concertgoers.
