As part of its continued efforts to recognise and pay homage to Jamaica’s selfless and industrious civil servant body, First Heritage Co-Operative Credit Union Limited (FHC), in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, is set to honour members of the government service during the FHC Civil Servants of the Year Awards Ceremony.

The awards ceremony will be held tomorrow (November 18).

Since its inception in 2004, the FHC Civil Servants of the Year Award has been bestowed on employees at various levels of the professional scale. Nine outstanding civil servants have been shortlisted; of this, three categories of winners – Technical Support, Management and Middle Management – will be selected to receive top prizes including a cash award of $200,000, plaque, and a citation.

The nine nominees are Shane Wedderburn, Andre Boyd, Simone Turton, Patrice Thompson Williams, Dwain Moodie, Oliver Morris, Lennox Wallace, Shernett Roberts, and Sophia Moulton.

“Civil servants form a very important part of FHC’s membership. The women and men who teach our children, maintain our roads, protect our environment, enforce our laws, safeguard our health and so much more, do so selflessly.”

As part of its focus on strengthening community relationships, First Heritage Co-operative Credit Union will also donate an additional $150,000 towards a community project of choice by the three top awardees.

While speaking to the impact of the award, Roxann Linton, CEO at FHC, noted: “Civil servants form a very important part of FHC’s membership. The women and men who teach our children, maintain our roads, protect our environment, enforce our laws, safeguard our health and so much more, do so selflessly. The award serves to recognise them for the work they do as they serve our nation. We have a strong legacy of partnership with civil servants and continue to provide financial solutions to help civil servants actualise their dreams.”

This year marks the 18th year since the implementation of the award, which serves as a significant, tangible recognition of the employees work and worth, not just within the public service, but also as corporate citizens who lend to social development through charitable engagements.
