Rushane Patterson, the individual who had been listed as a person of interest in connection with the death of social media influencer Aneka ‘Slickianna’ Townsend, has not been charged in relation to her murder.

Patterson was arrested by police last week Wednesday (November 2) at a guest house in Hanover, shortly after 1 am, and brought in for questioning.

After a question-and-answer session conducted by the police yesterday (November 8), lawmen failed to find anything that would connect Patterson to Townsend’s killing.

Speaking with Our Today, a representative of the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) confirmed that there was insufficient evidence to charge Patterson for the murder. They representaive would not, however, confirm whether he remained a person of interest in the case.

The CCU representative said the investigation into the murder of Townsend was ongoing, but could not divulge any information relating to the JCF’s next steps in the search for her killer.

According to autopsy reports, Townsend died after being strangled with a shoe lace that was found around her neck when her body was discovered.

Though he was not charged for the murder of Townsend, Patterson will remain behind bars in connection with a separate incident that took place in 2018.

Our Today understands that, last week Thursday (November 3), after his arrest, Patterson was charged with the abduction and assault of a woman who was allegedly his girlfriend at the time.

Reports are that, at the time of that incident, Patterson met up with his ‘girlfriend’ at a gas station where he accused her of cheating.

After that, he drove off with the woman in the car and stopped along the roadside where he allegedly attempted to choke her. She also alleged that he hit her several times.

It is reported that the woman promised she would not report the incident to the police and Patterson took her back to her car at the gas station.

However, she later reported the alleged incident to the police.

There was reportedly no follow up on the incident until recently, when Patterson was named a person of interest in the murder of Townsend.

The body of the 35-year-old influencer was found floating at Reading in St James on October 21. A day later, Patterson was named a person of interest and a request made for him to turn himself in twice.

He failed to do so on both accounts and was subsequently located and arrested by members of the JCF.
