Due to the Tropical Storm Warning and Hurricane Watch now in effect for the island and the anticipated deterioration in weather conditions, all Tax and Business Offices of Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) will remain closed to the public today.

Additionally, operations will be suspended at its locations tomorrow, Saturday, October 25, due to the pending passage of Tropical Storm Melissa. The decision to close has been taken after careful consideration to allow staff to make personal preparations and for TAJ to carry out activities required to take its systems offline and secure its network of offices Islandwide.

The public is reminded that several services are available online via TAJ’s website at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm. These include renewal of private Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate, payment of Property Tax, Motor Vehicle Certificate of Fitness Fee, Driver’s Licence Renewal fee payment, Traffic Ticket Fines, and Business-Related Taxes and Fees.

Additionally, persons may query their Property Tax liability; initiate an application for a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) or apply for Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC). Tax Administration Jamaica is urging members of the public to monitor the media for regular weather updates and advisories with respect to the passage of Tropical Storm Melissa and to take the necessary precautions to ensure their welfare and safety.

Further updates will be provided with respect to the reopening of offices for regular operations. For additional information persons may follow TAJ on social media, or visit the website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.
