Dancehall luminary Bounty Killer announced he will not be at this year’s staging of Reggae Sumfest, where a planned tribute to the legend will no longer take place.

The Warlord wrote an apology to his fans via Instagram, referring to the situation as an “unanticipated occurrence.”.

“Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, there won’t be a Bounty Killer tribute this year at Sumfest, and I won’t be appearing either. Salute to all the fans, alliance, and allegiances. Thank you,” Killer reportedly posted along with a video of one of his past Reggae Sumfest performances.

Fans of the ‘Grung Gad’ shared mixed feelings on social media, some thanking the Look Into My Eyes artiste for informing them before they made any costly arrangements to make it to the show, and others upset that he will not be getting his “well-deserved” tribute.

The announcement of Bounty’s performance and tribute was made in 2023 by Sumfest event promoters at Downsound Entertainment through a video of the Godfather of Dancehall narrating with much excitement.

“Hayo Yallo!! Reggae Sumfest cya too mello, Di Godfather haffi disrupt the treble! Uh, ready, fi dis?!?! Pay di price and come see the Price! Come out to Catherine Hall on July 19th fi see the tribute to the Godfather of Dancehall, Rodney ‘Bounty Killer’ Price!” he said in the promotional video.

Downsound Entertainment has not responded to Our today‘s efforts to make contact.
