A section of North Street in downtown Kingston will be closed today (July 12), between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., to facilitate a J$10 million drainage improvement project.

The advisory was issued by the National Works Agency (NWA), which pointed out that the closure starts at the intersection with Duke streets.

The project is a part of a larger drainage improvement initiative along North Street, between its intersections with Duke and Church streets, that will take place over three months.

Other works to be done under the project include the excavation of the roadway, cleaning of blocked drains and the backfilling of the work area. The roadway will also be reinstated with asphaltic concrete.

Motorists are being advised to use alternative routes during the period of the closure.
