November 22 deadline for admission to some UWI Undergraduate programmes in January 2022

The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus has indicated that an extension has been granted for Undergraduate applications for January 2022 admission in some programmes.

The applications in the affected programmes will now be open until November 22.

“The University understands the many hurdles prospective students and their families have had to overcome due to changes within school communities island-wide and the unprecedented challenges presented by COVID-19,” The UWI said in a release on Thursday (November 11).

“Further, with CSEC and CAPE results recently released, the Mona Campus has taken the decision to provide options for high school graduates to pursue further studies.” 

The UWI noted however that the Faculties of Law, Medical Science, and Engineering will not be accommodating any applications for January 2022.

However, the Faculty of Sport has all programme options on offer. Similarly, the Faculty of Humanities and Education (FHE) has most programmes available – including the United Theological College of the West Indies (UTCWI) and St Michael’s Theological College. The FHE will not be offering: Digital Media & Production, French, Visual Arts (offered in partnership with the Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts), History & Heritage and African Diaspora and African Studies.

The Faculty of Science and Technology has all programmes on offer with the exception of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Mathematics. As it relates to the Faculty of Social Sciences, applications will be processed for the following programmes:

– BSc Human Resource Management– BSc Marketing

– BSc Management Studies (General)– BSc Political Leadership, Strategy & Management
– BSc Marketing– BSc Tourism Management
Department of Government (Mona Campus)Mona School of Business and Management (Mona Campus)
– BSc International Relations -BSc Entrepreneurship
– BSc Political Leadership, Strategy and Management– BSc Marketing
– BSc Political Science– BSc Operations Management
– BSc Public Policy and Management– BSc Tourism Management

The Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work will accept applications for BSc programmes in Demography, Labour and Employment Relations, Social Anthropology, Social Policy and Development, Sociology and Social Work.

For the Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM), Accounting, Human Resource Management (HRM) and Management Studies will not be included in the January 2022 intake for Mona and the WJC. Additionally, the Department of Economics will not be accepting new students in January 2022.
