The Government of Jamaica is undertaking a critical road rehabilitation project to restore reliable access in Windsor Forest and Hagley Gap, St Thomas.

Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic, Growth and Job Creation with responsibility for Works, Robert Morgan, highlighted the broader impact of the initiative, stating, “This investment in St Thomas demonstrates the government’s continued dedication to enhancing rural infrastructure and bridging the gap for communities island-wide.

“Reliable road access is a convenience and a luxury everyone deserves to have. Projects like these enable residents to build stronger connections, seize new opportunities, and drive Jamaica’s progress forward.”

The project will involve excavating damaged areas, constructing new drainage systems, and rebuilding the road embankment with retaining walls. Targeted sections will also receive a new base, followed by asphaltic concrete paving.

The project was originally scheduled to commence on October 28, 2024, but faced a brief delay due to adverse weather conditions. It is, however now underway and is expected to be completed within six months.
