As Jamaicans carry out their respective Labour Day projects across the island today (May 23), the National Water Commission (NWC) is advising customers that they will need to store water to carry out Labour Day projects.

In a statement on Monday (May 22), NWC said that the commission’s request comes after a reduction in the current inflows at the NWC facilities which do not permit a 24-hour water supply.

NWC recently announced that it will be implementing a prohibition order to prevent the use of potable water for non-essential purposes set to take effect on Friday (May 26) due to a drought affecting the island.

The commission thanked its valued customers for their continued patience and understanding.
