The National Water Commission says it has lifted the water restrictions that were implemented earlier in May as a result of the prolonged drought conditions in the Kingston and St Andrew area.
The removal of the water restriction in the Corporate Area took effect on Thursday, October 26.
According to the water utility, as of Thursday the two major water storage systems, the Hermitage Dam and the Mona Reservoir, are now at 100 per cent and 96.5 per cent capacity, respectively.
“With some rainfall continuing to replenish the watershed areas, the NWC has been encouraged by the progression of the inflows and has proceeded to review the regulations that were implemented in February 2023,” the NWC said.

The entity said the distribution of water for the Hope (Papine, Gordon Town areas) and Seaview systems (Stony Hill and Jacks’ Hill areas) will revert to schedules prior to the drought restrictions.
The NWC is reminding customers to allow for 24 – 36 hours of pressure fluctuations as the network recharges fully after the removal of the restrictions.
Acknowledging that the realities of a prolonged drought may still be at the forefront of customers’ minds, the water utility said customers will be updated on any changes that become necessary based on the level of inflows over the next 2-3 months.
