Cliffhangers are supposed to keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, and Negril’s newest cliffhanger does not disappoint.
The newly-rechristened Ocean Cliff Hotel (formerly known as the Spa Retreat Hotel) made its mark this past weekend as the new go-to destination for premium getaways for milestone events, spa treatments and exquisite dining.
For the uninitiated, the entire boutique hotel is hewn out of local stone, resulting in 18 air-conditioned handcrafted stone cottages.

Located on the West End of Negril, the hardy build will ensure that the property will last until the last rays of sunshine hit God’s good earth.
It is truly a secluded paradise – a property blistering with sea views and intimate nooks and crannies you’d expect in a fairytale.

A select group of some of Jamaica’s chic power couples were welcomed with all the affection of long-lost relatives on entering the expansive property. Each was greeted upon arrival with a mini massage and cocktail. Exclusive swag bags and in-room gifts included 100 per cent Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee from highly-rated Coffee Roasters of Jamaica, a French press and their bespoke dark chocolate bars.
Treats from Aldor Candies sweetened the gifts, as well as personally monogrammed robes, beach towels and totes, umbrellas, and complimentary Jamaica Cold Pressed Juices sugarcane juices.
However, the welcome pack pièce de résistance hands down was the premium bottle of Appleton Estate’s eight-year-old Reserve dark rum – the perfect pairing for such an exclusive setting.
Appleton Estate cocktails won favour at the weekend as special cocktails were the order of each day!
It was curated by well-known parenting consultant and bespoke event host, Michelle Gordon, owner of the BossMom network.
“This weekend was an excellent way to incorporate ‘me-time’ into our hectic schedules,” she commented.
Guests enjoyed premium experiences including massages, a ‘Sunset & Sand’ cocktail party and dinner under the stars at the spectacular on-site Blue Mahoe restaurant.

The a la carte menu at Blue Mahoe features an extensive and eclectic combination of international and Jamaican cuisine, served by attentive staff, willing to accommodate guests’ requests at a moment’s notice.
Saturday evening’s dance party rounded out a weekend of rest, relaxation and a bit of revelry.
Weekend patrons included Dr Sara Lawrence and her husband, Jamaica Defence Force Major Noel Lewis; popular husband and wife DJs Denvo and Kiki Thombs; Superintendent of Police Garfield ‘Bucka’ Taylor and his wife, Bob Marley Foundation legal counsel, Lecia-Gaye Taylor; and high profile serial entrepreneur Peter Jason ‘PJ’ Wright and his wife Dr Brittany Boyne; as well as Dr Damel Spooner and his swimsuit and costume designer partner, Simone Michelle Neilsen.
A great weekend was had by all guests, and we couldn’t think of a better kind of cliffhanger – an ocean cliffhanger.
