The 2023 staging of the Miss Universe competition will be hosted by former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo and Emmy award winning host Jeannie Mai Jenkins.

Jenkins and Culpo will replace American comedian and TV host Steve Harvey who has hosted the pageant for the last five years.

The 71st pageant will take place in New Orleans on Saturday January 14.

Culpo was crowned Miss Universe back in 2012, when she represented the United States at the competition. The 30-year-old now spends much of her time as a fashion influencer, model and business owner.

In her statement about taking on the new role, Jenkins expressed that she was excited to once again be working with Miss Universe, having worked as a commentator in the past for both the Miss Universe and Miss USA competitions.

“I could not be more excited to be back with the Miss Universe organisation alongside all of the incredible women who are traveling to New Orleans from around the globe,” she added. “I am so honoured to be able to celebrate them and all the amazing changes the organisation has been making over the past year to push women’s stories further worldwide.”

Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018, will also serve as a backstage commentator for the event.

Representing Jamaica at the international event is Toshami Calvin, a 26-year-old from St Thomas who was crowned Miss Universe Jamaica in September last year.

Calvin left the island on January 3 and will be competing against 84 women from across the world.
