Spurred by oil-rich Guyana’s meteoric economic growth, Omni Industries has successfully initiated its expansion into the Caribbean nation.
The Jamaican plastic construction material manufacturer made its first inaugural shipment of buckets and garden hoses to meet Guyana’s growing infrastructure and industrial sectors, pushed by the expansion of its oil sector.
While this shipment is an important first step, Omni Industries is already in discussions to diversify its product offerings further in the market, with customised products being a focal point in ongoing client conversations.

Omni began actively planning this regional expansion a year ago, following its initial public offering (IPO), which provided the financial stability needed to upgrade its manufacturing facilities to meet its expansion goals. The decision to go into Guyana was influenced by its rapidly growing economy, driven in part by its expanding oil and gas industry, and the increasing demand for construction and industrial products.

As Guyana’s economy continues to develop, the demand for essential products such as construction materials, hardware, and industrial supplies is expected to grow significantly.
Further regional expansion
Plans for expanding into other regional markets, such as Barbados and Nicaragua, are under development. Omni Industries’ extensive portfolio of industrial, construction, and houseware products, including crates, makes it well-suited to support growing economies in the region.
Omni Industries’ managing director, Patrick Kumst, explained that following the company’s successful entry into Central America with exports to Panama, Guyana was identified as a strategic next step, noting, “Guyana’s economy is booming, and the demand for quality industrial products in sectors like construction is on the rise.”
Kumst disclosed that the expansion into the Guyanese market supports Omni Industries’ strategic goal of becoming a key regional supplier and aligns with its broader vision of connecting with emerging markets in the South American region.
According to him, the reception from businesses in Guyana has been positive, particularly in the construction and hardware sectors.

“There was a lot of excitement from potential customers, not only to have alternate suppliers, but more so to have those suppliers come from the Region. This strengthens our resolve to continue expanding our footprint in the Caribbean and South America,” the Omni Industries managing director advises.
“The potential in Guyana is immense, and we’ve only started scratching the surface. We will continue to engage with local stakeholders to understand their specific needs and identify how Omni can further contribute to Guyana’s industrial growth. This is a market we plan to serve for the long term,” he continued.

Omni Industries’ warehouse manager Daniel Chambers commented that, “The recent retooling we completed, whereby we got a new, state-of-the-art injection moulding machine, has improved our production capabilities. It allows us to scale our operations effectively, while ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the high-quality standards our clients expect.”
