Operations at the US Consular Agency in Montego Bay remain suspended

The US Embassy in Kingston is advising that operations at its consular agency in Montego Bay will remain suspended due to building damage sustained from Hurricane Melissa.

The building suffered storm damage and power loss, with the suspension remaining in effect until the building and office are determined safe for public access and utilities have been restored.

In the meantime, the US Embassy located in Kingston and the US Consular Agency in the Cayman Islands are open for routine and emergency consular services.

“To contact the US Embassy in Kingston, during regular operating hours, please call +1-876-702-6000 or email [email protected].  To contact the US Consular Agency in the Cayman Islands during regular operating hours, please call +1 345-747-8172 or email [email protected],” a statement read.

It further advised American nationals in Jamaica that for after-hours emergency assistance from the US Embassy in Kingston, or the US Consular Agency in the Cayman Islands, they should call +1-876-702-6000 to reach the duty officer.

American nationals were also encouraged to take the following actions: 

  • Contact the American Citizens Services Unit regarding any questions related to ACS services, scheduling, or pending services in the US Consular Agency in Montego Bay, such as, but not limited to, passport pickup. 
  • Schedule an appointment by clicking https://jm.usembassy.gov/services/ and selecting either the Kingston American Citizens Services Navigator or Cayman Islands Appointments buttons.
