Dr Leon Vaughan, one of Jamaica’s leading ophthalmologists, died today (August 5) in a car accident along Acadia Drive in St Andrew.

It is believed that he had chest pains, possibly the on-comings of a heart attack.

In 2015, Vaughan was the head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Bustamante Children’s Hospital.

He went on to establish his own successful practice on Ardenne Road.
