The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) is calling for the Andrew Holness-led Administration to state definitively when thousands of teachers and other public servants will receive their March salaries.

At the close of the business day on Friday (March 24), thousands of civil servants have been left fuming and angry at the non-payment of their salaries.

Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Julian Robinson, says: “It’s unconscionable that so many civil servants have not been paid and do not know when they will be paid. They have obligations to meet, such as paying rent and mortgages and buying food. How are they expected to survive?”

Robinson further called for the Government to cover all late fees and penalties that persons might incur as a result of their salaries not being paid on time.
