Leader of the Opposition Mark Golding has condemned the recent security threats to Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his family, which caused several police vehicles to swarm his residence Wednesday evening.
“We absolutely abhor any such conduct; we call upon the security forces and law enforcement to investigate it thoroughly, and if there are any perpetrators, to bring them to justice, and I want to extend my personal sympathies to Mr and Mrs Holness and their family,” Golding said.
He made the comments while speaking at a press conference on Thursday, September 19, to address the publication of an Integrity Commission report regarding the Prime Minister statutory declaration.
Senator Donna Scott Mottley also expressed her concern following the incident.
“We in Jamaica are very concerned that our democratic traditions be protected and there should be no attempts to threaten the Prime Minister and his family. Our condemnation is strong, and we trust that all the perpetrators will quickly be brought to justice,” she added.
