The People’s National Party (PNP) has indicated that, in a September 2 letter to Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Opposition Spokesperson on Labour & Social Security, Dr Angela Brown Burke, renewed her call for Labour and Social Security Minister Karl Samuda to be replaced.
According to Brown Burke, Samuda’s initial dismissal of the complaints from farm workers regarding their plight and inhumane treatment is both “unacceptable” and “unforgivable”.
The spokesperson is calling the minister’s removal and for him to be replaced by someone who “truly understands their role in protecting the Jamaican workers participating in the Seasonal Agricultural Workers’ Programme”.
