Despite valiant showings from Yohan Blake and Ackeem Blake, only Oblique Seville managed to advance for Jamaica into the men’s 100-metre final at the World Atheltics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Serville, competing in the last of three semi-finals on Saturday night (July 16), ran a brisk 9.90 seconds to win ahead of Marvin Bracy of the United States (9.93s) as the two automatic qualifiers. Canada’s Aaron Brown, who finished third in 10.06s, secured one of two provisional qualifications.
In a shocking twist, Italian Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs will miss out on the 100m final as he did not start Heat 3.
Blake stopped the clock in a competitive 10.12s but, in fourth for Heat 1, was not good enough to claim the two shoo-ins to the final, which went to South African Akani Simbine (9.97s) and American Trayvon Bromell (9.97s).

Sani Brown, representing Japan in Heat 1, booked the last provisional qualifier with a 10.05s time.
The third Jamaican, Ackeem Blake, also finished fourth in Heat 2, behind automatic American qualifiers Fred Kerley (10.02s) and defending champion Christian Coleman (10.05s).
Seville heads into the final with the fastest clocking, which gets under way around 8:50 pm Jamaica time.
