American rapper Kendrick Lamar’s diss track ‘Not Like Us’ has emerged with a solid showing in Jamaica’s top 10 YouTube trending list this week.
This song is one of five diss tracks levied against fellow hip-hop artiste Drake and served as K.Dot’s final blow in their battle for the top spot in rap.
Drake did rebut with ‘The Heart Part 6’, but the battle was over by then, with Kendrick being celebrated as the undisputed victor.
Adding salt to the wound as the DJ Mustard instrumental, coupled with Lamar’s scathing lyrics referring to Drake as a paedophile, among other damning allegations— ‘Not Like Us’ has become an unexpected dance song, especially for those who know how to “crip walk”.
Not to be mistaken with Metro Boomin’s ‘BBL Drizzy‘, another instrumental geared toward dissing Drake that has its own dance-craze as well.
Subsequently, blowing up on TikTok, the track has become Mustard’s first Hot 100 number 1 hit.
Dancehall continues to dominate the Jamaican YouTube charts, with fast-rising upstart Skippa’s Rihanna-sampled ‘Hugo‘ securing the top spot in the country.
