Dancehall artiste Skippa is shaking up the entertainment industry by openly chastising fellow artistes who have embraced the trend of using Rvssian’s ‘Dutty Money Riddim’ in their songs.

In his song Self Belief, Skippa asserts that the beat is outdated and those riding the wave are not suited for the dancehall scene.

The ‘Dutty Money Riddim’, originally popularised by incarcerated dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel with his hit track Go-Go Club, has experienced a revival with a revised version. Several artistes, including Najeeriii with PHAT PHAT, Malie Donn The 9ine with Muss Shot, and RajahWild with Go Go, have jumped on this musical trend.

Despite Skippa’s critique, songs using the riddim have gained popularity, dominating the top-10 trending songs in Jamaica.
