
A Canadian quartet of Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Brendon Rodney and Andre de Grasse outperformed a formidable United States team to claim the gold medal in the men’s 4×100-metre final at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Canada denied the on-paper US favourites in a world-leading 37.48 seconds, ahead of the silver medallists in 37.55s and Great Britain placing third in 37.83s.
Jamaica, improving on its Olympics performance, finished fourth in a season’s best time in 38.06s. The Jamaican quartet was comprised of Ackeem Blake, Yohan Blake, Oblique Seville and Jelani Walker on anchor.
