Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah has cemented herself in history becoming the first woman ever to claim back-to-back sprint doubles after winning the 200m finals at the Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan on Tuesday (August 3).

Thompson-Herah, the defending champion from Rio, ran a blistering 21.53 seconds to claim her second gold of the Olympic Games, defeating young Namibian upstart Christine Mboma (21.81s) and the fast-finishing American Gabrielle Thomas (21.87s) who won respective silver and bronze medals.

Decorated Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce just missed out on another podium finish, stopping the clock at 21.94s for fourth.

Again, Ivorian athlete Marie-Josee Ta Lou ends her campaign without a medal, finishing fifth in 22.27s.
