Natoya Goule comfortably won Semi-finals One of the women’s 800 metres to qualify for the final of the women’s 800 metres at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Saturday (July 31).

Goule took the lead after 300 metres and maintained her composure while fighting off all who challenged, to win easily from Great Britain’s Jamma Reekie, who had the lead in the earlier stages.

Goule was timed in 1:59.57 seconds with Reekie doing 1:59.77 and Mary Moraa of Kenya 2:00.47 for third.

The national champion’s time was, however, the 10th fastest time, as six athletes in Semi-finals Two and three in Semi-finals Three were faster.

Goule, however, earned a place in the final, as the winner and second place finishers of each of the semi-finals advanced automatically. The final will be run on Tuesday.
