With Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson standing for the national anthem, Jamaican pride was on full display for Emancipation Day (August 1) as the country’s flag dominated the medal podium on Sunday.
Thomspon-Herah led the way with gold in a Jamaican sweep of the women’s 100m final just 24 hours prior, followed in tow by Fraser-Pryce and Jackson, who claimed respective silver and bronze medals.

Jamaica’s indomitable sprint queens now turn their attention to the women’s 200m, the first heats of which get underway at 8:38 pm local time.
National champion, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, will seek to again wrest the Olympic title from defender Thompson-Herah, in heat two of the 200m.

Bronze medalist Shericka Jackson also begins her campaign in heat five, while Thompson-Herah contests heat six.
