Jamaica’s Megan Tapper secured the island’s fourth medal of the Tokyo Olympics tonight when she ran 12.55 seconds to take the bronze medal in the women’s 100m hurdles final.
The race was won by Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn in 12.37 seconds while world record holder Kendra Harrison of the United States took silver in 12.52s.
Jamaica’s Britany Anderson placed eighth in 13.24s.
Earlier in the night, Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, gold and silver medalists respectively in the 100m, moved on to the semi-final of the 200m.
Fraser-Pryce won her heat in a time of 22.22s while Thompson-Herah was relaxed in placing third in her heat in a time of 22.86s.
Shericka Jackson, Jamaica’s bronze medalist in the 100m, is out of the semi-final after placing fourth in her heat with a time of 23.26s.
World Champion Tajay Gayle, still nursing an injury, finished out of the medals in the men’s long jump final, with a best jump of 7.69m. He placed 11th.
