Our Lady of the Angels grab the lead at JISA Prep School Champs

St Andrew-based Our Lady of the Angels Prep assumed the lead after two finals of the Jamaica Independent School Association (JISA) Prep Schools Athletics Championship with 17 points at the National Stadium on Thursday.

Our Lady of the Angels took a surprise lead and are five points ahead of second-placed Mona Prep with 12 points. The 2023 champion, Emmanuel Christian Academy, sits in third spot with 11 points.

Many times champions Vaz Prep are in fourth spot on nine points, ahead of St Andrew’s Prep on seven points, rounding out the top five.

Our Lady of the Angels Zion Reid won the first final of the day, the Boys’ Class 2 high jump, with a leap of 1.35m.

Julani Robinson of Vaz was second with 1.25m, tied with Kamron Jones of Emmanuel Christian Academy, who also achieved a mark of 1.25m.

In the Girls’ Class 2 high hump, the top four competitors all cleared 1.15m as Leila Bell of Mona emerging victorious ahead of Emily Young of St Andrew’s and Morris Knibb’s Kristen Williams. Kristen Martin of Emmanuel Christian Academy was fourth.

Action continues on Friday when there will be 10 finals, at which point it will be clearer as to who will emerge as the 2025 champion.
