It’s now summer and what that means for many Jamaicans is a trip to the beach! So, if you have not been to the beach just yet, but plan to do so before the end of summer, you might find these beach vacation tips useful.

A trip to the beach can make for the picture-perfect escape. There is nothing better than taking in gorgeous views that the beach has to offer as you relax in the sunshine with your family or friends.

If you are planning to travel to the beach soon, you may want to take the time to pack the fundamentals for your trip so you don’t over pack or under pack.

By reading Our Today’s beach trip packing guide, and using our packing checklist, you can rest assured that you won’t forget the essentials that will improve your experience at the beach. Here’s what you need to know as you prepare for your beach trip:

What to Consider Before Packing

Bring a big beach bag – You should get a spacious beach bag to make it easier to carry all of your essentials to the beach. You may want to pick a bag that will stand out so we recommend that you choose a bag with unique patterns or bright colours. That way it will be easy to spot your belongings while at the beach. Having a bag with a zip closure is definitely recommended, so you don’t lose items while on your trip.

Bring other bags – It’s a good idea to take along extra reusable bags or plastic Ziplocs (Please be careful and do not allow any form of plastic to enter the beach, Thank you!).

Choose suitable clothing- You are going to the beach and you want to be as comfortable as possible so dress in light and breathable materials that allow you to move freely. By choosing comfortable clothing you’ll be able to feel more relaxed.

Carry the right shoes – If you will be spending a significant amount of time near water and sand, you want to have the right shoes, of course. Flip-flops and sandals are the ideal shoe wear because you won’t have to worry about excess sand getting in your shoes. If you want footwear that will offer more protection while in and around the water, water shoes may be a decent choice.

The Checklist

To ensure that you don’t forget any of the essential create a checklist and check each item off as you pack this will help you stay organised as you pack and ensure that you don’t forget to bring important items.

Skin Protectant – Your skin health is important, so ensure that you pack sunscreen and insect repellent.

Water – Keeping hydrated in the midst of the fun and relaxation is important. Dehydration is a concern when you spend much time in the sun, therefore it’s a good idea to bring refillable water bottles with you so you can fill them before you head to the beach. Another option is to buy cases of water when you arrive.

Appropriate accessories – You don’t want to be without must-have beach accessories such as sunglasses and hats. These essential items help protect you and keep you more comfortable as you spend hours in the sun.

Bring entertainment – Certainly, watching the waves and talking is fun. But you may also want to have other forms of entertainment on hand. Carrying a water-resistant portable speaker is one option if you’re going to listen to music while on the beach. Packing one or two books is another excellent choice, or bring along some board games.

Bring beach essentials – It’s a good idea to bring beach must-haves so do not forget to take your bathing suits, swimming trunks and towels. Also ensure that your camera or phone is packed because what is a day at the beach without some good photos to show?

Money- Remember to walk with money for food, especially if you didn’t pack a sandwich or two.
