The long-awaited local government election is scheduled to take place before the end of February 2024, after multiple delays. The parochial polls were due in 2020. However, they were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The election was again postponed in 2022 and February 2023.

While an official date has not been announced, members of the two main political parties, Prime Minister Andrew Holness is the only one with the power to set an election date.

The PNP has threatened legal action, if the election is again postponed.
