
Jamaica recorded 835 new COVID-19 infections according to the latest information available from the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
In addition, 18 new deaths were reported which are said to have occurred between August 23 to August 26.
The new deaths bring the overall coronavirus death toll on the island to 1,483.
An additional, five deaths are under investigation.
The majority of the new cases were registered in Kingston and St Andrew which recorded 178 new infections, followed by St Catherine which recorded 170 cases.
The parishes of St. James and Manchester recorded 90 new cases while Clarendon registered 64 new infections and St Ann recorded 52.
All the other parishes recorded less than 50 new cases, with St Mary recording seven case, while St Thomas registered four new infections.
The country currently has a total of 739 persons in hospital battling the COVID-19 virus; 189 are described as moderately ill patients, 92 severely ill patients, and 61 critically ill patients.
Jamaica currently has 15,811 active cases of the virus.
