Energy, optimism and purpose filled the AC Marriott Hotel in Kingston on Wednesday, October 8, as Sagicor Life Jamaica’s financial advisors were given an extra push to “Own the Outcome” at the Sagicor Motivational Seminar (SMS).
The event, which forms part of the company’s ongoing employee development initiatives, brought together advisors from across the island for a day focused on self-improvement, connection, and reflection.
Attendees were able to reflect on their progress, evaluate their goals, and draw inspiration from the experiences of their peers and leaders. The day’s programme featured a blend of motivational sessions, Q&A discussions, and musical performances designed to uplift and encourage advisors to take ownership of their results and remain focused on excellence.
Former Member of Parliament and Miss World, Lisa Hanna, who was this year’s motivational speaker, encouraged attendees to harness their power in shaping their paths and to embrace change. “The greatest risk is not daring to change, it’s actually refusing to change,” Hanna told the audience, while calling for bold action, encouraging them to “continue to think boldly, move courageously; not just for yourselves, but for the generations coming forward who will one day look back and say, they saw the future coming and they ran to embrace it. The future doesn’t reward the cautious; it rewards the courageous. Those who take the risk actually lead. Those who hesitate become followers.”

Another key highlight of the event was the induction of three new members into the Sagicor Life’s Quota Hall of Fame: Patrick Sinclair, Senior Branch Manager, Montego Bay Branch; Loeri Robinson, Unit Manager, Holborn Branch; and Denton Atkins, Unit Manager, Mandeville Branch. The honour recognises their outstanding performance and leadership.

Attendees also heard from Sinclair in a special ‘Profile’ style interview with journalist and television anchor, Archibald Gordon, where he reminisced on his journey from advisor to branch manager, the perseverance required to succeed, and the importance of staying motivated and focused.
The event also paid tribute to Bruce Lyn, Sagicor Life’s longest-serving advisor, and Mavis Ferguson, whose career exemplified the spirit of perseverance and excellence within the advisory team. Throughout the day, advisors were treated to inspiring performances by talented singers, including Ranice Barnett, whose opening number set an uplifting tone for the event. The energy continued with IRYDIAN, whose dynamic performance added a vibrant touch to the programme.

In his address, President and CEO of Sagicor Group Jamaica, Christopher Zacca commended the advisors for their dedication and encouraged them to boldly tackle their goals, “It is not just our skill or knowledge, but our undaunted spirit, whether adapting to change, reimagining the client experience, or remaining grounded amid uncertainty. You all have consistently risen to the occasion, and I know that that will not change.”
Attendees described the seminar as refreshing and grounding. Many noted that it provided a valuable opportunity to step away from day-to-day responsibilities, assess their personal goals, and reconnect with their reasons for choosing a career in financial services.

Through initiatives like SMS, Sagicor continues to strengthen its culture of empowerment and collaboration, creating space for an environment where personal growth aligns with corporate success. The seminar concluded with a moving performance by Kevin Downswell, whose message of faith and perseverance echoed the spirit of the day and left the audience energised.
