Panama is joining broader Latin American support efforts to assist Jamaica in rebuilding after the devastating damage caused by Hurricane Melissa.

Mayor of Panama City, Mayer Mizrachi, confirmed that relief supplies are already en route. “Dear Jamaica, on behalf of Panama, you’ll be receiving a humanitarian flight from Copa with medical supplies, non-perishable foods, clothing, and utilities to support Hurricane Melissa relief efforts,” he shared on his X account.

He added that the initiative reflects Panama’s solidarity with Jamaica during this challenging period, as regional partners continue to mobilise aid for affected communities.

Panama now joins fellow Latin American nations such as El Salvador, which has dispatched more than 300 rescue personnel and over 50 tons of supplies to Jamaica.

Colombia has also extended support, with Jamaica expressing gratitude to the Colombian Navy for sheltering vessels during the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
