Valrie Curtis, long-serving clerk to the houses of Parliament in Jamaica, retires this Saturday (April 6), amid being cited for “gross dereliction of duty” by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Juliet Holness.

This was in relation to the handling of reports submitted by the Auditor General’s Department to Parliament for tabling and the conundrum that ensued thereafter before those reports were finally tabled a week ago.

Curtis will proceed on retirement having reached the age of retirement in April 2021 and having been granted an extension for an additional two years to expire upon reaching the age of 67 years.

In a statement on Wednesday afternoon (April 3), the Commission of Parliament expressed its gratitude to Curtis for her long and dedicated service.
