Patrique Goodall is bringing back aspects of Jamaican culture through her business, Likkle Tea, encouraging and revamping a lifestyle of daily tea drinking.
Tea is a staple in every Jamaican household. It is often had in the morning with breakfast and is the national cure for any sickness or ailment.
Have a headache? Drink some bush tea. Break your foot? Drink some tea. According to our grandparents, there is nothing tea cannot cure.
But, in recent times, Goodall said she noticed daily tea drinking had become less common and she wanted to bring it back.

“We want to have people consume tea outside of when they feel sick, have a headache or even gas. We encourage an entire lifestyle around tea and we want people to have a daily tea experience with our variety of flavours,” said Goodall.
Likkle Tea is a premium Jamaican tea company that specialises in loose leaf tea. Currently, it has 10 tea blends handcrafted by Goodall, who is also a tea sommelier.
The blends can be served hot or cool with seasonal flavours such as Pumpkin Spice and Mint Chocolate.
Likkle Tea is also the main regional distributor for Rishi Tea’s line of Matcha and its sparkling botanical drink, extending the reach of the company to regional and international waters.

After the launch of her Literary tea collection, inspired by Caribbean literature, Goodall shifted focus to create something that is uniquely Caribbean.
“I believe that tea, like many other things, is a connector of people and culture. Teatime provides a space for ceremony, conversations and to connect and I wanted to create something that was ours,” said Goodall.
She noted that, in a world without borders, cultural retention is needed to ensure individuals do not lose parts of their culture which make them who they are.
“I wanted anyone who looked on the brand, the name or any blends, to recognise a piece of Jamaican history and I wanted conversations around our culture to be had.”

Some of these tea blends include:
Rock Steady – a blend of shade-grown Yerba Mate, sorrel, hibiscus, wildcrafted local lemongrass, ginger and orange peel.
Moonshine Darling – a blend of South African Rooibos, valerian root, passion flower, lavender, a sprinkle of mallow petals, shimmer powder and natural vanilla flavouring.
Other Jamaican inspired tea blends are Grand Market, Smile Orange, and Coconut Pone.
“Our experience and our culture is outstandingly unique and I want to instill a sense of pride when anyone takes up a canister of Likkle Tea, so that they can say ‘this is ours, this represents me and my culture’,” Goodall passionately expressed.
Currently, there is no physical store but tea blends can be purchased on the Likkle Tea website here.
