Former Reggae Boy Paul Hall is among several candidates in discussions with the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) for the position of assistant coach.

JFF General Secretary Dalton Wint confirmed as much earlier today while responding to inquiries about the likelihood of Hall joining the Reggae Boyz coaching staff.

“We are in discussions with several people (including Hall) but nothing has been confirmed,” Wint said.

Hall, 48, represented Jamaica in 48 matches between 1997 and 2003, scoring 14 goals for the current number-one side in the Caribbean Football Union and was instrumental in Jamaica qualifying for the FIFA 1998 World Cup in Franc.

HALL A LIKELY CANDIDATE TO JOIN WHITMORE STAFF

According to sources, Hall, who currently a coach at Championship club Queens Park Rangers, is the holder of a UEFA A coaching badge and is seen as a likely candidate to join the staff of head coach Theodore Whitmore.

Discussions with Hall, the sources said, began months ago but the former player has not heard back from the JFF regarding taking him on.

Wint was unable to say when their discussions with Hall or the other candidates would conclude.

Meanwhile, the Reggae Boyz are expected to begin their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign in June. The two-time Gold Cup finalists also begin the hunt for a first title in July before the resumption of the World Cup qualifiers in September.
