The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), under the stewardship of Governor Richard Byles, played a significant role in ensuring macroeconomic stability in Jamaica in 2024.

The year closed with inflation within the four to six per cent band, net international reserves (NIR) stood in excess of US$5 billion and the monetary policy rate was reduced four times, coming down to six per cent.

Notable work was also done on establishing a twin peaks regulatory framework, and the Jamaican dollar in the main remained stable avoiding volatility.

The Central Bank also had to navigate through the impact of Hurricane Beryl as well as a negative travel advisory imposed on Jamaica by the United States which has hurt the domestic tourism industry.
