Jamaicans who are awaiting hernia, prostate, fibroids and other womb-related surgeries for more than 12 months are being urged to contact the Ministry of Health and Wellness by Wednesday (May 31).

The Health Ministry made this announcement today (April 3) in a social media post.

The surgeries are being offered through the CODE CARE Project launched by the Ministry of Health and Wellness to reduce the backlog of elective surgeries due to COVID-19.

The project is aimed at removing 2,000 persons from the surgery backlog, providing them with health services that improve their quality of life.

Persons seeking to have any of these surgeries done are required to contact the Health Ministry and provide their name, the medical record number from their hospital appointment card, the type of surgery being done and the hospital the appointment was made.

The Health Ministry can be contacted during their hours of operation (Monday to Friday) between 9 AM to 5 PM at 876-320-8694,876-320-9133,876-320-9164 or 876-320-9373.

They can also be contacted via email at [email protected].
