Jamaicans can continue to breathe a collective sigh of relief as State-owned refinery, Petrojam, unveiled a sweeping reduction on nearly all major products effective today (September 29).
Petrojam, in its closely watched petroleum product pricing index, has advised that 87-octane gasolene will cost J$4.50 less than last week, to close at a new baseline of $193.16.
The rollbacks were consistent, to varying degrees, for all of Petrojam’s products except kerosene, which rose by $3.06. Kerosene now starts at an introductory price of $213.43—its third-highest figure since September 1, 2022.
It is expected, however, that retailers islandwide will add their markups to the announced prices.
